Senators Marshall, Hoeven Release Resolution to Block Implementation of Biden Admin’s Natural Gas Tax and Unleash American Energy

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. and Senator John Hoeven (R-ND), and Congressman August Pfluger (R-TX) reintroduced their bicameral Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval to block the implementation of the Biden administration’s Natural Gas Tax, which passed as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats’ reckless tax-and-spend legislation in 2022.

“The Biden EPA’s methane tax would increase energy prices for consumers and punish American energy producers with billions of dollars in new taxes,” said Senator Marshall. “America sits on a gold mine of resources – it’s time to cut back the red tape and unleash American energy. By undoing the reckless policies of the Biden Administration, we will strengthen our energy industry, increase jobs, and lower costs for America’s families and businesses.”

“When it comes to bringing down prices and making America energy secure again, we have our work cut out for us. The Biden-Harris administration imposed countless policies like the Natural Gas Tax that drive up the cost of production and limit the ability to fully utilize our nation’s abundant energy resources, and it will take real time and effort to undo the effects of their Green New Deal agenda,” said Senator Hoeven. “Through efforts like this CRA resolution, we are working to get our nation back on the right track, providing needed regulatory and tax relief to deliver real cost savings to American energy producers and consumers.”

Senators Marshall and Hoeven are joined by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Mike Lee (R-UT), James Lankford (R-OK), Katie Britt (R-AL), Steve Daines (R-MT), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), James Risch (R-ID), Rick Scott (R-FL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim Justice (R-WV), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), John Kennedy (R-LA), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Roger Wicker (R-MS), John Ricketts (R-NE) and John Barrasso (R-WY).
