Senator Marshall’s Statement on the National Defense Authorization Act

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. released the following statement on the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act, which passed the U.S. Senate earlier this evening:

“Under Joe Biden’s failed leadership our country is facing crisis after crisis and national security concerns are rising across Kansas. Right now China is buying U.S. farmland, infiltrating our schools, stealing our intellectual property, and flooding the border with lethal fentanyl, it is not the time to compromise our military posture. For that reason, I supported this year’s NDAA to increase our troop’s pay by over 5 percent and increase funding for cutting-edge military technology to improve our lethality. This bill also targets the financial assets of Mexican traffickers and Chinese suppliers who are importing illicit fentanyl across the country, and Kansas, in mass quantities,” Senator Marshall said.

“Make no mistake, this bill is not perfect and I am not thrilled with the nearly $900 Billion price tag given the repeated failure in spending oversight at the Defense Department, but I hope we can resolve the deficiencies in the Senate bill with the Republican-controlled House version and make meaningful improvements to this legislation.”
