Senator Marshall Visits New Cambria, KS to Discuss Rural Broadband

New Cambria, KS – This week, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. met with Home Communications in New Cambria, Kansas to discuss their family-owned telephone company that serves the eastern half of McPherson County. Alongside Mayor Mac Villalpando, Senator Marshall discussed how local broadband providers continue to do a great job of bringing high-speed internet to our rural communities. New Cambria has a population of about 100 people and recently completed Fiber To The Home (FTTH) for residents and businesses after Mayor Villalpando helped Home Communications with outreach to residents.

Senator Marshall is the sponsor of the Reconnecting Rural America Act, which seeks to empower local internet providers, like Home Communications, by offering low-interest loans and grants to rural broadband providers who are building internet infrastructure.

“Bringing high-speed broadband connectivity to every part of the state is my top priority. I am proud to see companies like Home Communications leadership and their successes in providing high-speed internet to our rural communities,” Senator Marshall said. “Rural hospitals, farms, small businesses, schools, and families deserve a reliable, fast, and affordable connection.”
