On the hearing in the Senate on the failures of Secret Service:
“I think it’s gonna be good to have the Secret Service and the FBI in the same room at the same time, so they don’t deflect the question to each other. But the backdrop here, Rob, I just got back from a big weekend back home, is that Americans don’t trust the FBI, and the Secret Service is incompetent.”
“The Secret Service had massive individual failures as well as systemic failures. 48% of their agents have left the Secret Service over the past year, barely 50% of them trust and respect their supervisors. So there is a cultural issue within the Secret Service. And this is why I’m calling on two things. Number one, is the President, the Commander-in-Chief should appoint some type of a crisis management team to go in and turn the Secret Service upside down right now.”
“And today, what we need to ask is what are they doing to protect President Trump? What are they doing to surge more people to protect him when he has these events, as well as give him the drones and whatever else? They need to make sure that he’s safe and secure.”
“But as far as I know, this is the incompetence that I’m talking about. This systemic failure that occurred, whenever you have some type of a mass failure like this, communication failures are always in the center of it.”
“And I understand the FBI has an ongoing investigation. But still, they need to look America in the eye, in the camera today and say, look, either we’re concerned about there is more to it than just one shooter, or there’s not. Again, if I was betting money, I think this is a lone wolf. I think that this was a mentally disturbed young man, and he was a copycat of the JFK assassination. That’s the most likely answer.”
“But when you lose your faith in the FBI, as the American people have, and rightfully so, we’ve lost our faith in the Secret Service as well. This is why Americans don’t feel safe and secure. This is why we need a strong Commander-in-Chief to become President of the United States and restore democracy, restore safety, security, and restore law and order as well.”
“We need to make sure that President Trump has the safety that he needs around him, all of the security. It’s going to take us weeks and months to get more answers. But meanwhile, we need to make sure the President is safe.”
