Senator Marshall Joins Fox 4 KC To Discuss USPS Audit in KC Metro Area

Kansas City, KS – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. joined Fox 4 KC Live in Studio to discuss securing the upcoming USPS audit in the Kansas City metro. This audit comes following multiple letters sent by Senator Marshall and members of the delegation demanding answers on the mail delays that have been occurring for several months and are causing a ripple effect across the entire state. The upcoming audit will investigate the efficiency of mail delivery at USPS sites in the Kansas-Missouri region.

Highlights from Senator Marshall’s interview include:

“The number of complaints we’ve got from folks in the Kansas City Metro Area has just exploded over these past several months, and why? It’s because their mail is late. It’s constantly late, it’s consistently late, and there’s enough metrics already…If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.”

“We know they were missing their metrics already, the number of days, the average day to get the mail to you. So we asked an inspector general to come in and find out why, and that’s just exactly it. I’m not sure what they’re going to find, but why are they falling below…the other mail services across the country?”

“There is no different situation in manpower here in Kansas City than there are in other places. Look, everybody is short of labor right now across the country. There’s not a profession that speaks to me that’s not short on labor right now, so I don’t want to use that as the only excuse. I think there are some other things they can do more efficiently to make this happen.”

“So much of the solution is implementing a simple plan…come up with the solutions, then implement the plan. I don’t think it’s going to be a rocket science plan. I think it’s going to be implementing a very simple plan.”
