Marshall, Hoeven Introduce CRA Resolution to Block Natural Gas Tax, Reduce Energy Costs & Boost U.S. Energy Production
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. and Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) introduced a bicameral Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval to block the implementation of the Biden Administration’s Natural Gas Tax, which was passed as part of the Democrats’ reckless tax-and-spend legislation in 2022. Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) introduced an identical measure in the U.S. House of Representatives
“Joe Biden and Democrats war against American energy producers is raising families’ energy bills and killing good paying jobs,” said Senator Marshall. “Fortunately, help is on the way. When President Trump returns to Washington, we will unleash American energy and ensure Americans can power their communities into the future.”
“American households and businesses depend every day on access to affordable and reliable energy,” said Senator Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “The best way to bring down prices for U.S. consumers is to increase supply. That’s why we’re working to rescind policies like the Natural Gas Tax, among the many other costly and burdensome taxes and regulations imposed under the Biden administration. Doing so will help unleash our domestic energy production and make our nation energy dominant once again.”
“President Biden’s promise to end fossil fuels hurt the hardworking energy producers of my district who have worked diligently to increase production while fueling our allies abroad,” said Representative Pfluger. “If implemented, the ill-conceived natural gas tax will handicap technological innovation, reduce supplies of affordable energy, and increase both costs and emissions. I am proud to lead this CRA to rescind implementation of the natural gas tax.”
The bill is cosponsored by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Mike Lee (R-UT), James Lankford (R-OK), Katie Britt (R-AL), Steve Daines (R-MT), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), James Risch (R-ID) and Rick Scott (R-FL) in the U.S. Senate and Congressman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) in the House of Representatives.
