Senator Marshall Votes No On Minibus Bill That Nosedives America into Deeper National Debt

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. released the following statement after voting against the massive minibus bill that would cost the federal government $1.2 trillion and dive our nation even deeper into our historic debt crisis.

The bill text of this massive spending bill was released at 2:30AM ET yesterday with numerous poison pills like taxpayer gender reassignment surgeries, green new deal climate initiatives, and zero dollars to fund the border wall or address our greatest most immediate national security threat, our wide open southern border.

“I cannot, in good faith, support this $1.2 trillion spending bill, which embodies the toxic status quo in Washington D.C. that has pushed our nation into a historic national debt crisis,” Senator Marshall said. “Our budget process is broken, and the utter disregard for the consequences it will have on future generations is disrespectful. Each month small businesses and hardworking families across the country come to the table and responsibly manage their budget to make ends meet. No one in America would run a business the way that Washington D.C. runs this country. I am laser-focused on upending this process to ensure that government funding deadlines are met on time and in broad daylight for the American people to see.”
