Senator Marshall Releases Statement on EPA’s Announcement of Year-Round E-15 Sales

Washington, D.C. – Following legislation introduced and co-sponsored by U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it would expand the sale of E-15 ethanol. Starting in 2025, residents in eight Midwest states will now have access to E15 at the pump year-round. The EPA previously limited the sale of E15 to the winter months.

It’s great to see the Administration finally embrace year-round sales of E15 for the Midwest. Higher blend ethanol fuels reduce carbon and tailpipe emissions and help us achieve our goal of a cleaner, safer environment,” said Senator Marshall. “Ethanol production supports Kansas farmers, renewable fuel producers, and our oil and gas sector. The approval for these eight Midwest states is a great start, but I urge the Administration to take the next step and approve year-round E15 sales nationwide.”

Background:

U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. is a co-sponsor of Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Amy Klobuchar’s (D-Minn.), Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2022. The legislation would allow the year-round, nationwide sale of ethanol blends higher than 10 percent. Increasing the availability of biofuels like E15 would benefit the economy and the environment.
