Senate Designates November 16 as National Rural Health Day 

Washington, D.C. – In honor of the many dedicated rural health care providers and our nation’s patients that depend on their services, the U.S. Senate has declared November 16, 2023 National Rural Health Day. 

The resolution passed the Senate unanimously and expresses a continued commitment to advancing policies that improve health care access and affordability for rural communities across the country.

“I spent over 25 years taking care of patients in rural Kansas and have a deep understanding of how scarce reliable health care is across rural America,” said Senator Marshall. “I’m proud to have been a part of this movement to designate November 16th as National Rural Health Day and shine a spotlight on the critical role our rural hospitals, physicians, and nurses have in our communities. As a doctor who ran a rural hospital and now as a Senator who sits on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, fighting for more access to quality care in our rural communities has and will always be one of my top priorities.”
