Sen. Marshall Applauds Wichita Native Margaret McMullen, Winner of 2021 National Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest

(Washington, D.C., April 20, 2021) – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. issued the following statement after Wichita native, Margaret McMullen, was announced as the winner of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2021 National Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest.

“Congratulations to Margaret McMullen for going head to head with some of the greatest artistic talent in the nation, and bringing this victory back to the great state of Kansas for the first time in 30 years,” said Senator Marshall. “The National Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest is a vital part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s mission to instill principles in our youth that are near and dear to my heart – a deep respect and appreciation for America’s wildlife and the conservation of natural lands.”

Background:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest is open to students in kindergarten through grade twelve through their school, home, art studio or after-school group, or from a national wildlife refuge, park or nature center. The top piece of art in the nation is featured on the Junior Duck Stamp, sales of which support educational programs and activities that promote conservation. Approximately 2,000 Junior Duck Stamps are sold annually for $5 each. This year, nearly 9,000 young artists submitted entries to the Junior Duck Stamp contests around the nation.

You can buy Junior Duck Stamps online through the U.S. Postal Service and Amplex and at some national wildlife refuges. The first day of sale for the 2021-2022 Federal Duck Stamp and Junior Duck Stamp is planned for June 25, 2021.
