Sen. Marshall Announces Over $20,000 in USDA Rural Development Funding for Township of Logan

(Washington, D.C., April 7, 2021) – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. today announced $20,500 in USDA Rural Development funding for the township of Logan. This grant will be used to increase public safety by purchasing a fire truck for the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department, which provides fire protection to the southwest part of Allen County, Kansas.

“Supporting advancement in rural communities is vital to the success of our great state, and I applaud USDA’s investment in the township of Logan,” said Senator Marshall. “Kansans deserve to rest easy at night knowing their community is well equipped to handle disasters that could threaten their personal safety. These dollars are an important part of USDA’s efforts to promote public safety and ensure the success of rural America for years to come.”

Background:

This USDA Rural Development investment of $20,500 will be used to purchase a brush fire truck for the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department, which provides fire protection to the southwest part of Allen County, Kansas. The new truck will replace an existing 1977 model, which does not meet all of the National Fire Protection Association safety standards for this type of apparatus.
